SCI Girls: Create

If you like science and creating, this is the camp for you. This camp will explore different ways to create, combining conventional crafting with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Grades 3-4/Ages 7-10.

Bits, Bots and Watts

Beep, beep, boop! Explore the world of coding and the basics of electricity to build your own robot in this technology-focused camp. Grades Pre-K-Kindergarten/Ages 4-6.

Summer Camp: Advanced Rockets

Get ready for some high-flying summer fun at Rocket Camp! Learn the exciting science behind rocketry. Build the Honest John, a single stage rocket standing nearly 2 ft. tall that can fly nearly 1400 feet in the air. Family and friends will be amazed as each participant gets a chance to launch their rocket on the final day of the camp.

Beyond the Controller

August 3 @ 9:00 am - August 7 @ 4:00 pm

Put down your controller and explore the science in your favorite games. Learn the language of computers, complete gaming challenges, and exercise more than your thumbs. Grades 3-4/Ages 7-10.

Drop-in STEAM Space

Drop in to STEAM Space for open makerspace time. Build on our LEGO wall, create with craft supplies, engineer cardboard structures, make paper circuits, or turn a banana into a piano. Your only limit is your imagination! This program is for 8-13 year olds.

2019-2020 Water Game Jam

The 2019-2020 Water Game Jam will focus on aquatic ecosystems in Iowa and encourage students to incorporate field investigation data and observations, online data resources and investigations in a new game idea. Game ideas are submitted via a 4-minute video to be considered for recognition. A panel of game and science experts will use a scoring rubric to determine top analog and digital games in two age categories (Grades 3-5 and 6-8).

Girls Love Code

An after-school club for girls in 3rd-5th grade who are interested in learning to code. The club is for beginners to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment. Registration is required.

STEM Day at the Capitol – Keokuk Schools

February 27th, 2020|

On February 19, 2020 students and educators from George Washington Elementary and Keokuk High School were invited to present during STEM Day at the Capitol so legislators could see the impact of programs implemented through the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. The Keokuk Community School District has Scale Up programs in every building from Preschool through high school including Pint Size Science, Engineering is Elementary, STEM In Action, Differentiated Math Centers, Making STEM Connections, Engineering the Future, Computer Science Principles, and Bootstrap Data Science.
