SCI Code Camp: E-Textiles

An event every week that begins at 4:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until Thursday, November 21, 2019

In this class coders will use conductive thread to sew a micro-controller to a project, use coding language to program it, and create a clothing accessory that reflects their individuality using their knowledge of wearable electronics. Ages 10-14.

Minecraft Night Out

November 15 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

If your child loves Minecraft, get them involved with others to turn their focus into new friendships and skills. Basic logic and coding with Redstone will be taught.

Girl Scout Junior Cyber Security Overnight

November 15 @ 6:00 pm - November 16 @ 9:00 am

Join the GMD staff as we take on the future of cyber security and gain skills to become safe online. Scouts will earn all THREE badges!

GirlsCode++

November 16 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, November 16, for GirlsCode++, a one-day event to teach 8th-12th grade girls about computer programming.

CoderDojo Cedar Rapids

November 16 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

On the first and third Saturdays of the month from 1:00–3:00 p.m., NewBoCo hosts CoderDojo, a free program for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade to learn tech skills – everything from programming robots to developing websites.

We will explore some of the basic functions of the built-in Windows Photo app and make simple slideshow/video compilations that you can show to your loved ones! This class is aimed at absolute beginners, those who are not tech-savvy, or those wanting to make very simple videos.

Hour of Code

The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. Check out this website to find an event near you and for tips and resources on how to host an Hour of Code event in your neighborhood or school.

IT-Adventures

IT-Adventures, which is in its 13th year of operation, is an innovative program that is dedicated to increasing interest in and awareness of technology among high school students through inquiry-based learning focused on four content areas: Cyber Defense, Smart-IT, Robotics, and Community Service.

STEM Family Free Night

Admission to the Iowa Children's Museum is free to all visitors from 5-8 pm the last Friday of every month sponsored by Collins Aerospace. Help solve a unique STEM Challenge in the STEM Studio focused on STEM problem-based learning.

NewBoCo’s DeltaV Code School Announces New Nights and Weekends Program

DeltaV Code School wants to make it more accessible for adult career switchers to learn how to code. For those currently working a full-time job; however, switching to a full-time bootcamp can be a difficult decision to make. A new nights and weekends program aims to change that.
