April is Financial Literacy Month and Principal® is celebrating by inviting
Drop-in STEAM Space
Drop in to STEAM Space for open makerspace time. Build on our LEGO wall, create with craft supplies, engineer cardboard structures, make paper circuits, or turn a banana into a piano. Your only limit is your imagination! This program is for 8-13 year olds.
2019-2020 Water Game Jam
The 2019-2020 Water Game Jam will focus on aquatic ecosystems in Iowa and encourage students to incorporate field investigation data and observations, online data resources and investigations in a new game idea. Game ideas are submitted via a 4-minute video to be considered for recognition. A panel of game and science experts will use a scoring rubric to determine top analog and digital games in two age categories (Grades 3-5 and 6-8).

STEM Day at the Capitol – Keokuk Schools
On February 19, 2020 students and educators from George Washington Elementary and Keokuk High School were invited to present during STEM Day at the Capitol so legislators could see the impact of programs implemented through the Governor’s STEM Advisory Council. The Keokuk Community School District has Scale Up programs in every building from Preschool through high school including Pint Size Science, Engineering is Elementary, STEM In Action, Differentiated Math Centers, Making STEM Connections, Engineering the Future, Computer Science Principles, and Bootstrap Data Science.
